Maybe what Jacobs wants to remark by taking the larghetto section as a presto, is the fact that Idamante feels nervous, excited in this situation. I am not a Jacobs' fan when he plays Mozart (I only enjoyed his Cosí), but I don't find this choice the most rare of all.

finally a version of this aria where Idamante doesn't sound like a wimpy pushover- besides Kozena's.... this is the best (save from Kozena)

I don't know what motivated the decision to make the "larghetto" section actually WRITTEN BY MOZART a "presto"... Certainly not because it sounds better that way! The singer's ornaments are not very tasteful either... Strange choices, but not for the best!
