Robotic Warrior by PWP, an apocalyptic story completely performed by an unexpanded VIC-20. No disk drives, memory expansions or speech carts are needed.

Won the demo compo of the Alternative Party 2003, later nominated for a scene.org award. Was followed by "Robotic Liberation" at Assembly 2003.

  • Was this written on the unexpanded vic?! The end of the vid seems to suggest so. (3583 bytes). Surely not!

  • It runs on an unexpanded VIC-20, yes, but the code was written and compiled on a slightly newer machine.

  • I was there. I traveled all the way from Greece for that party. Halfway through the demo the crowd started clapping in sync with the music. Just the though of this moment today gives me goosebumps.

  • These guys like to write stories about robots taking over the world...

  • amazing and yet horrifying 5/5

  • @poopskinTheLiar Who doesn't? :)

  • VICE and the real VIC-20 really do sound almost annoyingly different (Compare the 'percussion' especially)...

Yeah, VICE cannot handle this thing so well, hehe.

  • Vizznut I loved this demo. It works on my NTSC vic 20's. I just started getting back into the Vic 20 recently and I hope to do some programming of my own. I have a video of the Vic 20 using the Ottawa Freenet. I intended it to show people how a vic can connect to the internet using a terminal program.

  • hi, how caN I RUN THIS IN MY REAL VIC 20 I HAVE THE DISK DRIVE AND TAPE MACHINE

  • Man these demos are all sooooo impressive (c64, vic-20)!!!!!!, however, imagine the impact if there were DEEPER messages in these demos... because afterall, these are like presentations.... but this one has more story than many c64 demos at least.

  • Great work! I had my VIC-20 when I was 10 years old... that was fun, there were no ready made games; You had to learn to make Your own! In a way I have to thank having VIC for my current job as Senior B.I. consultant. Veni, Vidi, Vic!

  • I do have to admit I read that as 'My penis's just dropped'.

But even then, this demo is worth that cause for it.
