Good stuff. The 180bhp is the same engine with the same injector units as the 150, just remapped to give a higher spec to customers to get those last sales end of line. You should be o.k. at 210 - but be careful as you'll burn out the injectors. I agree they can be a bit soggy - I live in the sticks and find at times the standard ride a bit hard... if your looking for a go-kart ride then get a Type R. Happy motoring! ;-)

hi m8.i sold my s-reg 150 bhp and brought a 53 plate 180 bhp 5 door golf gti.i've just had it remaped by r-tech in hinckley and is running 210 with a forge 007p valve. the golfs are great cars.the only thing that lets them down is the soggy ride.thanks for your info.

My water pump when before christmas. Took the opportunity to get the cam belts changed. It's the second golf I have owned that's had the water pump break, luckily the first one was under warranty. :-)

Hi, I had my W reg chipped to 196bhp. Performance a lot better, knocks about 2 secs off 0-60mph. Fuel consumption better when you drive steady - no good if your heavy footed. I was informed by a reliable mechanic that the engines are under boosted - 200bhp should is fine. It's like any car - depends how you treat them! :-)

How does she go after the map??
My head gasket went at 78.000 miles 2 weeks after i had mine done. But it was the waterpump that failed and these are common as theyre plastic. Not sure how much better but its better than it was by a lot!
