@funghool - While I think Mike Smith is the Godfather of Death Metal drumming, let's give credit to the rest of the band, as well. Easily some of the finest in the genre, no fucking doubt. On a separate tip you say CC's, Paul Mazurkeiwicz has slowed down? Oh shit, I didn't think that was even possible. This guy plays like he is in a coma most of the time. By far, the weakest link in one of death metal's greatest bands of all-time & my favorite, btw. Now give 'us' Mike Smith, then were talking.

the thing with mike is he was the fastest twenty years ago before 70000 drummers copied. I was sure this was a goddam drum machine when i first heard this in 91. He was a fuckin machine. he still is but you know people get older. paul mazurkeiwicz is a another who kinda slowed down but these dudes infuckinvented.

Damn! These guys are AMAZING! Even LIVE! They are the most brutal death metal band ive ever seen

BRUTAL!!!!

Mike has a style all his own. He's not the fastest, or the most technical drummer, but what he plays works perfectly with the rest of the music. And that's what a great drummer does. He never plays a bunch of wankery.
