I purchased 2/D flute with eight holes in it. I dont kow what 2/D means i'm New to this flute. i havenot played flute any before. pls tel me is that i purchased right flute and the saregama matches with 2/D flute. WHat is this 2/D means. i searcehd in wiki no answers found. pls guide me.

@srinivasan1109 2 D should mean the D (Re of the Indian system) of the second octave on a keyboard. So your Sa should sound like the Re on a harmonium. I believe that is how it is done. One of the flute-makers I spoke with a while ago said it was a lot more complicated than that, but could not explain to me how. Anyone who knows better, please share with us.

what is sharper blow?

@anathieeify Sorry about the ineaxct term "sharper blow." What I mean is, you have to blow harder to shift octaves (Saptak). Although, in the wester system of flute playing, you just change the structure of your mouth to shift octaves (google the word "Embouchure"), it does not seem to work for me in Bansuri.
