Demo of robot responding to scripts in the driver mode of vex round up competition. Use of scripting for repetitive lift functions and complex sequence of motor commands for a low hang maneuver is shown on my living room 2 tile arena. This video augments the programming challenge video.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STebUOQkW7s) Software modifications to the scripting engine allow scripts to be easily accessed during manual operation with joystick buttons. See my blog for details on how the software does this.(http://vamfun.wordpress.com/2010/09/01/roundup-mentor-bot-operator-mode-scripting/)

  • Interesting, but shouldn't the students who actually built it and programed it be explaining it?

  • @mecamya2 I was the student who actually built and programmed it to teach mystelf RobotC:) The scripting concept has now been taught to the team and they are giving it a try. The next video may be theirs!

  • what programming language do you use?

  • @tennisdude1010 RobotC this year

    See my blog for details:

  • Very nice though I must say I would have a hard time coordinating with a second controller that's coming from a long time competitive gamer though so the multitasking on whats essentially a playstation control is second nature to me. Though the team programmer's built a bunch of these scripts into the control I still find myself running everything manually

  • you might wanna get the AAA batteries. our judge said they would contest the use of the soldered wire at worlds

  • @haingkuong 1 high torque 393 Vex motor is used on each linear slide. There are two slides for the inner lift and two for the outer lift. Only one lift is run at a time so it needs the power of two 393 motors to lift.

  • how do u picl up the rings? Nice Robot!
