Bareback is the best! It allows so much more communication with the horse and allows you to feel even their most subtle movements. Love it!

loping is a slower version of cantering, its a three beat gait but its for western

Loping is for Western talking... So loping is a bit slower.
Cantering is for English talking.... So cantering is a bit slower....
Which means western is a slower ride and english is faster.
If you're riding your horse western pleasure, the correct term is loping, which is a slower and more relaxed gait. Cantering is the english term, and although they are both three beat gaits, cantering is a bit faster and more proper. I myself ride western, currently:P I love horses, and my two babies are BlackJack (technically a pony, but he is only one hand below a horse) and Dodger (who is 16.3 hands--he's huge!!). I love these two boys, they are both geldings. Long Live Country Girls!!

Cantering is a bit Faster Than Loping..it is usually called Cantering when referring to English Riding. Loping is slower and it is referred to the Western Riding. Loping is more Relaxed and Comfortable...but they are both fun :)

I don't think lope and canter are different. i think the words are just different, not the gates themselves. just thought ide cover that. :P
