This 60' X 30', 92 lb. American Flag was donated by The Valley Forge Flag Company. It was unfurled on a building over looking the World Trade Center site by a group of Ground Zero volunteers from New York City during the rescue and recovery operations after the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001. It was hung on the 1 Liberty Building, also known as the NASDAQ Building & the Brooks Brothers' Building on the corner of Liberty and Church. It was hung on September 22nd 2001, the building was used as the Ground Zero Morgue for the fist initial week until they could secure a permanent location. The flag was removed three months later shortly before Christmas when the repairs to the building started and the flag could no longer remain. You can view The Ground Zero Flag on September 11th on 116 Mott on the Lower East Side every year as a tribute to honor the heroes and fallen loved ones during the September month. And for the very first time The Ground Zero Flag will proudly be involved with the Veterans Day Parade in New York City on November 11th, 2007.
