EMT HST Blows Up!!!!! At Alexandra Palace!!!!

Whilst waiting for the Scrap train to come, The EMT HST Hire in was on the 12.30 from Kings Cross, when it came around the corner, a lot of smoke was Bellowing out from the sides and underneath! unfortunatly it stopped just outside of Alexandra Palace, and not in!!! But quite a extrodinary sight...

Enjoy! , i certainly did. In the end it was 115 late.

@HSTHoward These older trains still have the toilets that flush out under the train. At higher speeds the effluent does not fall onto the track, but swirls around as an atomised spray in the slipstream of the train, to be breathed in by anyone standing nearby. Sometimes this effect can be seen clearly on videos,especially if the sun is low in the sky and a zoom lens is being used.

ive seen this before , what tends to happen is the BRUSH gearboxes leak for a past time, and cover the inside disc and pads with oil , this gets hot during braking and starts to smoke. there is nothing else under the powercar that can smoke like that , well worst case senario the fuel tank but ive only even know one drop and catch fire in all the years of the HST

@HSTHoward You're quite correct of course, but it still looks a bit crude in this health and safety obsessed age we live in. As far as I can see, all new trains are being built with aircraft-style retention toilets.
