My brother filming my mother while she changes the gauze packing in my wound. I had an infected sebaceous cyst lanced, and need to have this done every night for a week. My mom has to pack 6 inches of gauze under my skin through a one-inch cut.

The video quality is not the highest, since I had to have my brother use my G1 (cellphone) to record. I may post a better recording in the future if I can find a better camera.

  • Damn it...I have one of these right on my tailbone. Don't have surgery yet. This is going to suck.

  • @MGMan37 It won't be that bad, I'd imagine it's tough to sit and sleep on your back as it is, once you have the surgery, it doesn't take too long to heal. As long as you get pain medications that work for you (Norco is good), and can either change the packing yourself or have someone who's kind enough to help you , you won't have any trouble. The gauze part isn't bad at all. It didn't really hurt, it was mildly uncomfortable. It would be far less comfortable to let that incision get infected.

  • @MGMan37 Good luck! If you have questions, I'm not a doctor, but I'm also not embarrassed to answer what I can.

  • @seidojohn Well, it popped on its own and isn't horribly infected so the doc says I should keep it clean and let it heal on its own (to where it isn't red and swollen) before I get it cleaned out/stitched up in surgery, which means I won't have to pack it. The downside is I won't be able to sit down at all for 2-3 weeks.

  • @MGMan37 I guess that's good to hear. Good luck with the healing process! Hope you're not in too much pain. I never had the cyst wall removed nor my incision stitched, but it healed fine (if you can call a scar that looks like a knife-wound healing fine :-P ).

  • She should have packed the wound with your ponytail.

  • @graycam My ponytail is far too unsanitary. :-)
