To the Southern Ocean she's bound
With her gallant crew of volunteers
Gathered from the whole world round
Captain Watson gave the order
And the Sea Shepherds they set sail
To prevent the Japanese whaling fleet
From hunting down the Minke whale

They'll brave the cold Antarctic waters
And they'll fight them on the open seas
Where the Nisshin Maru runs red with blood
Through what's supposed to be a sanctuary
Though the whalers claim scientific research
As the reason for the massacre
It's nothing but a callous attempt
To find a loophole in the law

But it's rise up my lads

Now the whaling fleet is six big ships
And their weapon is the harpoon gun
With grenades attached that explode in the bodies
Of the whales as they're swimming along
And while the rest of the world sits by and watches
This slaughter of the innocents
A lone Australian vessel is coming
And they call her the Steve Irwin
