Chinese Regime World's Top Executioner

According to an Amnesty International report released on Monday, the Chinese regime carried out more executions last year than the rest of the world combined.

Of more than twenty-three hundred executions recorded, 72 percent were carried out by the Chinese regime.

As the regime refuses to release public information on their number of executions, Amnesty made a minimum estimate based on information from local media, NGOs, human rights groups and their own contacts.

The Chinese regime is known for using the death penalty arbitrarily for 60 different offences, including tax evasion or even damaging electrical facilities. Those sentenced to death do not necessarily receive fair trials and, for some, evidence used against them is extracted through torture.

The U.N. General Assembly has called for a global moratorium on the death penalty, steadily working on the issue in the past 30 years. Currently, 59 countries still have the death penalty on their books.

@handyted101 i looked it up, China is at .81 per million people, and US is at .22. i still agree with death penalty, but i think life sentences should give a choice on whether they can die or not (but only in secret because then we might have someone who wants to die go on a kill and rape rampage to see if he can get the required punishment of death)

To be fair china does have a massive population to govern. Per head of capita chinas execution rate is probably lower that SA Iran and the US

China has many more people in their country than most countries. So, they may have quite a few criminals in there some where. Also, they have a no tolerance attitude towards crime to discourage it. So of course they do! Brutal but efficient...
