Seems like a guy could make one a lot simpler and even cheaper if he just put a PVC pipe INTO a PVC pipe, hook up air compressor and welah. Yes, no, maybe?

i looked at all your animatronic stuff. i love it. how do you learn how to do that. i want to try and start doing that for next year. search for "avkevy" and check out my vids of my halloween. 2007 will be up by december

I'm assuming this is the bicycle pump setup, how did you get the lid to not 'spin' around?

We never use bike pumps or screen door closers. This was built using a single action spring return Bimba cylinder with a Red Hat Asco solenoid. The lid is attached to a piece of 1" x 1/8" flat aluminum bar bent to fit under the lid. This is attached to a 4 bar linkage that turns the 6" cylinder travel into approx 19" travel for the trash can lid.
