@XXXCutie17 Because it's actually supposed to be spelled aluminium, but in the US we spell and pronounce it as aluminum. It is believed to have come from an spelling error on an advertisement way back then and so Americans say aluminum.

@ZombiCheese Also if you use the rules of the english language where to have the A sound not the a sound, there has ti be a consonant THEN a vowel and their is none so it is so posed to be pronounced Fil-it.
Most of the smoked salmon in stores is not smoked enough. We do it ourselves.
