The beauty of jazz and blues--it's not how well you sing, it's about where that singing comes from: the soul.

man, i don't know about you guys, but Mr. Armstrong was quite attractive at this young age of 31 or 32
i would've changed my own name to Dinah if i was there at the time, just to have him sing a song about me.
heck, i'll do that now!

I recommend an article from the New Yorker podcast. They talk about Louis there. as well as some by Dr. Gordon Vernick. He goes thoroughly through trombone players of the 1920s Kid Ory, Miff Mole and Jack Teagarden. Let me know what you think of them

Well if you wanna split hairs. It is common sense that the term "traditional" jazz in the 1920s and 30s was much different than today. And if anything, Louis style was rooted in the NO style but the Hot fives and Sevens, recorded in Chicago. This number here is played in a more Chicago style. Compare this to a typical NO band and you hear the resemblance but this swings much more. I highly recommend searching for podcasts on Pops. In which is where i heard this info. A treat for any Jazz fan.
