  • There's a much easier and more secure way to put baby/child on back in the ergo. I always freak out watching the videos of mums trying the back carry out for the first time without researching first. You just have the ergo on your hip, put the child on your hip, hold the shoulder straps around child, and bounce them around to your back. lean forward, and put the shoulder straps on.

  • @CantSeeTheStars I DID plenty of research and watched tons of videos. It didn't make it any easier for me. The whole process of hip to back while leaning over AND grabbing the straps was very uncomfortable to me. I felt VERY unsafe. So much so that I returned the Ergo. I prefer Beco because it adds security to the carrier with the added inner panel. I will never use an Ergo again.

  • i love the ERGO! My baby sleeps and nurse pretty well and also I can use it with my 3 year old son.... Is just preferance! I just saw that you don't like the Ergo and of course you don't want to try to give him a chance in your video. The baby needs to be close anough to kiss..

  • @jimbobgeorgejohn I think it's all just personal preferance like you said. I tried the Beco first and I was hooked! The Ergo left me feeling unsafe. If I had tried the Ergo first maybe I'd feel differently, but I'm in love with Beco!

  • ive been looking at baby carriers and i was SOO happy when i finally found something that has that security panel. this review made me even more sure that the butterfly 2 is what im looking for because i was looking at the ergo also. thanks!

  • @69hulkk I'm so happy to hear it! The Ergo is nice but the Beco is better!!!

  • Just bought a Beco at a store-owner's recommendation. They also carried Ergos and a variety of others, but he said he preferred the Beco for a slew of reasons. I couldn't recall having heard of it before, but having tried out some others, I wasn't crazy about the lack of inner panel, either. And it didn't feel so great on my back. My husband's now a fan of the Beco; I haven't actually tried it on yet.

  • Great review. I will be checking out the Beco now!

  • @LittleKittenKhari You are right! It's completely personal preference. I have been able to put my 4 year old in the carrier at 45 pounds, so I'm sure with the right adjustments you could put your 2 year old in it. It's really great for back carries. I used it from 8 months on, mostly on my back. It worked out better that way for me. The Beco Gemini will do a front carry facing in and out, and a back carry. Have you tried it? Less material than the Beco Butterfly.

  • I have a beco butterfly & ergo performance, and I by far prefer the ergo, beco leaves me feeling squished, and I'm not big, though I am tall. I agree it is harder to get a baby on your back, I wear my 6mth old on my front which is his preference - but great for toddlers. My 2yo doesn't fit in the beco, he's a big just turned 2yo, and just too big, despite being 14kg - 6kg below their 'max'. He fits fine in the ergo though, even my 5yo fits. Guess it just shows it really is down to preference.
