  • im seriously considering upgrading the cpu, will i have to change anything in the bios or is it simply a case of putting the new one in?

  • @pritstik303

You might need to flash the BIOS in order to optimize performance and support for your upgrade.

No tweaking needed within the Bios though.

The latest A09 Bios are available on the dell website

  • Yup, you can upgrade RAM, CPU, GPU and HDD.

There have been some known issues with heat dissipation and throttling (due to 150 watt limit on adapters).

Go to forumnetbookreview. com for all the advice an M15X owner could need.

  • So its possible to upgrade the CPU at any point you want to? Is there anything specific to be aware of when upgrading it, like power consumption and heat?

Can you change the GPU aswell?

    Great vid!

  • Very helpful I'm in Canada and was unable to get my M15x configured with an i7 620M, I grabbed an i5 540M in it's place but I was really hoping to get into the i7 series with this rig. Good to know I can upgrade the CPU whenever I want.

Are there any special BIOS or OS steps when swapping the CPU on one of these puppies?

  • great unscrew man well done and it was awesome.......;)
