He was so gloomy and depressed, everyone laughed at him

But there just laughing because they want to forget there like him

shouldn't it be "All i really need is someone who can stand the depressed me" ? Otherwise it wouldn't make much sense after he said "All i want is for you to call me with sympathy" i think x3
