Here is a clip of Moroccan Prep Lab for trilobites. The specimen in the video being preped is a very rare Koneprusia brutoni which is found in Oufaten, Alnif, Morocco (village/nearest largest town/country). The age of this trilobite dates to the Middle Devonian (410-360 million years ago)

The reason in which why he can use a small air abrasive to reveal the trilobite hidden in the limestone, is since the trilobite's protective shell has calcified and is now a much denser material than the limestone.

This man is only one of a small handful of workers in this country doing this quality of work.

  • that is sooooo weird i do not know wtf you said and like the rest make a description of what they do this is showing good cool stuff but not much talking so i think its not entertaining.

  • The people talking in the background are speaking Arabic. I was there for business and my translator was working a price deal for me. Its not meant to be entertaining but educational as to how these fossils are prepared in Morocco.

  • Needs a description of what is going on and why. Is it a real fossil? Fake? Is this activity for commercial or research purposes? Is it a common species or a rare one?

  • Tom, Please refer to the description. The fossil is real and is done for commercial purposes in Morocco and abroad. The species is a rare one for Morocco. It is a Koneprusia brutoni.

  • Can you make a video of trilobite preparation from start to finish? How it is cut from limestone, located, halves of rock glued back together and how to start to excavate from the limestone and some pictures from start to finish? It could make a great prep video for those of us who would like to learn.
