Found one of these in second hand shop today for 13 €, seemingly never used. It's a really neat device. Striking how well designed it is, zero 'boot'-time and instant response. The keyboard is great. It's kinda good that it doesn't have that great connectivity, cause then there is fewer distractions and u can get some work done.

HAHA =)

I found a HP 200 LX for 2 € =) That was great. It looks nearly like new, only the back looks used. Its from 1995 and the smallest dos computer ever^^ (I read that in an ebay auction think it is correct)..

And for myself I'm using my HP JORNADA 720. Great device, nice, linux-support,touchscreen, pcmcia,cf,...

I agree, I am beginning to think the fact that it is not net connection orientated is now one of its strengths. Most of the more modern devices are not much use if you have no network connection. I also like he fact that it uses normal batteries and is not reliant on a power source to charge it.

I have an Ericksson MC218. trouble is its got a French Rom in it. I can't understand their phrases in the menus as they are deliberately 'nationalistic' and avoid any anglophile terms.
I can get functionality out of it but struggle when the batterys die and the CR2032 backup battery too. I save data to the compact flash, that is my main drive but it doesn't capture the data in the calendar and the same data doesnt come across in the PsiWin, only contacts and applications data. What is wrong ?

Hello.

This is fantastic! It's good to see the Psion range doing it's thing. Do you have the program called 'Calligrapher'?

Keep the Psion alive!

Matt.

Great review. But I wonder if you have another version of MC218 than I? The display on my handy is much more deep green. Maybe it's just the lighting but your screen looks clearer. Did Ericsson make different versions?

One of the best things I like about the display is that it is visible whatever the lighting conditions. I use this a lot when working outside: so I can keep writing and editing even in full sunlight - not something that is possible with a laptop/notebook. And I don't need to bother running a power cable out there.
Another thing I do is to load on full text books from Project Guttenburg. Then I can read these very discretely during some of the boring meetings which fill my working life.

I owned one long ago. They had the best ergonomic design ever even today. I really think new mobile UMPC's and Windows Mobile or any other computer should use their form factor. I really hate thumb input keys. The Psion I was able to touch type about 80% of desktop speeds.
