Inside Berlin's amazing Jewish Museum (an architectural marval designed by Daniel Libeskind), there are several strange spaces. This is the Memory Void, where 10,000 iron plates cut into faces lie. Walking over them, they creak and scream, echoing in the cement chamber. The effect is chilling, rattling the heart at the pain and loss of Jews in Europe. A brilliant piece of public art by Israeli artist Menashe Kadishman [moderngonzo.com]
