  • Let me tell you one thing: This was a Porsche 911 GT1, but not a McLaren.

Besides this, the video is stolen.

  • Sad little people don't know cars.

  • wtf, MCLAREN F1'S WON'T BLOW OVER! IT WAS A PORSCHE! during their rubbish period, they're pretty awesome now it seems...

    somewhat....

  • Aerodynamics fail....

  • C'est pas la F1 Mclaren c'es la Porsche 911 gt1

  • if i he landed that flip it would of been epic

  • WHY THIS HAPPENED is not a flaw. But prototype gt1 cars at the time had something called rake. Basically the front is lower then the rear, making the entire underbody (which is flat) a huge diffuser (if you dont know what that is, google it) But what happens as you crest a hill, more air goes under the splitter (not spoiler...splitter) which basically will then make the car act as a fin. The car is GLUED to a flat road, but they soon found out they dont do too well over hills.

  • Definitely a Porsche, I have this car on Forza 3 ; )

  • As many have said below, this is the Porsche 911 GT1 crash from the Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta. Second, this was a freak accident rather than a design flaw as in the case of the flying M-B CLRs at the 1999 24hrs of LeMans. The driver (Yannick Dalmas, if memnory serves,) just got too close behind another car on a slightly uphill part of the course and immediately lost all his downforce. I believe something similar happened to Bill Auberlen in a BMW protoype as well....

  • @Mikeado66 yeah that makes sense looking at the car. it needs a front spoiler

  • @timinator824 Bad design. The cars in that class were designed in a way that gave them the aerodynamic properties of a plane wing - the exact opposite of ideal - so going over hills and following in another car's slipstream, they had a tendency to flip. Basically, the spoilers did their thing properly, but the shape of the body and the flat floor caused the cars to generate lift. This class of racing has since been disbanded.

  • get ur facts straight. it's a porsche gti. loser.
