This video illustrates the basic step-by-step instructions for a preservation process called backing and wrapping. Objects that are too thick to be encapsulated are backed and wrapped using mylar and mat board. Covers with wax seals are also preserved in this way so that they do not bend and crack. Encapsulating does not have a mat board backing to support the object but rather the object is sandwiched and sealed between two sheets of mylar.
