Popeye the Sailor - Symphony in Spinach (1948)

Famous Studios Popeye the Sailor cartoon. Popeye and Bluto compete for a spot in Olive Oyl's band in this cartoon that attempts to bring the series back to its Fleischer Studios roots through the use of improvised dialogue spoken with no lip movement from the characters. Olive is more fickle in this cartoon than she usually is. She lets Bluto come close to kissing her on the lips on several occasions, but then suddenly objects to him planting a kiss on her shoulder. The spinach sample that Popeye eats is from an envelope that is actually addressed to Famous Studios. This version has the original Paramount titles.

 The color film lab didn't line up their images around 5:25 during Popeye's trombone attack on Bluto. The yellow (possibly a three-strip process) doesn't align. Another Popeye fan suggested this was deliberate...
