Sweet Emmaline - Hot Antic JB - Benny Waters 1982
The Hot Antic Jazz Band is playing a tune made famous and recorded by Clarence Williams in 1928.
Saxophonist Benny Waters did not seem to recognize this standard tune but was certainly challenged by the chorus structure. It only took him a few chorusses and off he went into a beautiful and cretive solo.
He later declared that the band had tunes with such nice names.
With Hot Antic youll see Michel Bastide on trumpet, Jean Francois Bonnel tenor sax, Gilles Berrut piano, Jean-Pierre Dubois banjo and Christian Lafevre tuba.
The one thing European bands get, compared to the average Dixieland band,
is the "old sound". Here is another fine example of what I am talking about. Excellent job guys!!
