Members of the American Association of University Women, Business and Professional Women-Michigan Federation, Ingham County Women's Commmission, Michigan National Organization for Women, Michigan Women's Commission, Michigan Women Work!, Pay Equity Network and the White House Project rallied in the Capitol Rotunda for pay equity legislation.
No woman gets "handed" anything in life either. There is factual evidence that shows women who work just as hard as men do are sometimes paid less. I was once told that I wouldn't be getting a raise, because I didn't really have a family to support. At the time, I was paying child support to my husband, and it was coming out of my paycheck, so my employer knew this. That's discrimination, based solely on my gender. It happens. That's what these laws would address.
