Famous quote used in the Song "The Radiance" by Linkin Park.

Oppenheimer, "father of the atomic bomb", says: "We knew the world would not be the same. Few people laughed, few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." I suppose we all thought that, one way or another."

Video from the BBC documentary on Hiroshima.

  • Its crazy that they used this quote, i learned of this because i had to write a college paper about WWII and i read some of the info that was said during the first test in New Mexico, Linkin Park is an amazing band and many people might of not liked the new CD but they dont fully understand the meaning behind the lyrics.

  • @xavierlittle Ya, its on the album but its only got a little music and they don't sing. Oppenheimer's words are pretty powerful though...

  • om om

  • This is an awesome quote, I intantly recognized it from J R Oppenhiemer at the culmination of the Manhattan project in New Mexico. I also thought it gives whole new meaning to the name of Linkin Parks new album that the qoute is featured in, a thousand suns. This term was used to describe the light and explosion of the atomic bomb.

  • "Now I am become Death, The Destroyer of Worlds"

  • @MaikUniversum ..Made them stop tho

  • mass murder
