K. 450 is one of the finest of the 555 sonatas, composed by Scarlatti. Played on organ it sounds unexpectedly nice. The Dutch organist, harpsichordist and musicologist Gerard van Reenen plays this sonata on the historical organ at Onderdendam (The Netherlands), in 1841 built by G.W. Lohman (1802 - 1856). Scarlatti himself and his pupil Queen Maria Barbara of Spain have without doubt often played on the organs in the royal chapels and palaces. So, an interpretation on organ is surely well-considered. Video recording and montage: Wim Bender, sound and mix: Arnold Vos-vanDijk. Info: www.gerardvanreenen.nl

  • I was wondering whether the ducks are spanish or not!

  • The birds are coots, not ducks. They are Dutch. The organ is also Dutch.

  • now that you mention it, i wish all of those 555 sonatas were as well-composed as the 450....

  • Love the video. Like the editing. You use the tripod?

Sorry but don't understand much about organ music.
