BAD Direct TV installation job

Really, the wire is expensive? I buy good quality RG6 at retail and pay about $50 for 1000 feet. I'm sure you get it at a considerably better rate than that. Honestly, I'm glad there are hacks like this out there because when the client calls my company to come and do it right, we usually get more work from it to boot. So, thanks, to all the shitty installers out in the world.

I am a Q.A. Tech for Directv Home Services in Mississippi and I am totally out raged at the comments put on here by so called install techs. First off the worst kind of direcv tech is one that works for a contract company or sub contractors. They do nothing at all up to Directv standards, I installed for 8 years and never failed a quality inspection. Our techs are top notch and that is why our office has the best service in 7 #s in the country. These customers are why we have jobs.

i know your type dude...got a house full of dvrs with the hard drive alll maxed out.,whole home, everything directv has to offer. calling directv the minute your tv stops working before realizing its just on the wrong input. your the customers us installers talk trash on every morning. probably pushing 300lbs when youre 5'2. the installer did a shitty job but you gotta show the world? is that all thats going on in your world..a shitty install? haa on to the next douchebag

i wish that everyone could do this job for at least a few weeks. then they might have a lil respect for the installers.

The DirecTV people are in a hurry, so they really don't care about a good quality install. They put a dish on the peak of my roof and ran wires along the top of the roof, across the back and down into entry points drilled into the outer walls. I told them there was already attic wiring they could tap into but their techs are morons. I had to eventually rip out all the coax they had running all over the outside of the house.

This looks like great work. I would have done it the same way.

Actually this was probley done like this because the landlord would not let us drill a hole in the building so it was either run the cable like this or tell them that we couldn't do anything for them. Yes I would agree that this looks very bad I would hate to leave a job like this however if this is the only option and thats what the customer wants then its their choice not ours to make.
Ted-Directv Installation Tech
Whats the problem? for it being a FREE install, that didnt look half bad, if you paid this guy cash (custom charges) then you have a right to complain, we as directv contractors have to supply the wire (which isnt cheap) and that was a lot of wire, DTV pays us $15 a line ran, do the math on the time it took him to run this and how many feet he used, would you run that line for $15? If so, come work for me I will pay you $4.00 an hour

This is what free is,You dont want to pay for custom charges, then you get what you get. These installers/techs have to pay their bills as well.I side with the DTV tech.
