Although ostensibly these people have come together to protest about "the Establishment" not doing enough for the environment, this gathering has also a lot to do with the feeling of kinship and community that is engendered when like minded people of the same ethnicity get together.

In other words, this is a case of WHITE PEOPLE sharing in and celebrating WHITE PEOPLE'S interests. This hippy gathering is as "all white" as a meeting of the BNP.

Naturally, none of them have any children.

ray25620 you're comments are just daft, the difference between a BNP gathering and climate camp is that the BNP assemble to promote race hatred whereas CC is about the survival of the human race. Check the images, there are people of different races there, unlike you they're not obsessed with it to make some ridiculous, tenous point. where did the BNP come into anti-climate-change protesting? also, other people CHOSE not to come along. climate change is everyones problem, infact, no, it will affect the poorer developing nations to a much greater extent. why leave it to the greedy capitalist govts who dont give a crap?

Once upon a time countries in Africa and the far East actually cared when the EU or the USA dressed them down about human rights. But these days they trade with India, China and Russia and can tell the West to go to Hell. PM Brown threatened Zimbabwe with withholding 30 million pounds aid for human rights abuse, but Mugabe was then signing a trade deal with China - no strings attached - worth one billion pounds. China, India, Russia are the players now, liberal whites can't afford the ante.

Only white people care about the impact of climate change on OTHER, non-white, people. You might get e.g. native Americans turn up, but only because THEIR environment is threatened by commercial interests (tar sands). Similarly, only whites care about animal welfare (whaling), child labour in India, human rights in Tibet, women's rights in the Third World. This is all "stuff white people like". As whites shrink in numbers owing to having no kids, such causes will be promoted no longer.

2009 will in retrospect be viewed a rubicon point of this species evolution. The polution reduction benchmarks to be set shortly will be nothing less than the measure of the collective human commitment to survival ,versus the vested interests in the toxic status quo. All white countries. No mention of India or S Korea. I also did a google search on their clim. camps, no luck.

Environment, animal welfare, human rights, gay rights, etc are white values, especially clueless (about Race)childless 20-30 liberal types. Soon they will be extinct, then all their values can go hang!

You do understand that there were simultaneous climate camps in non white countries such as India and Korea right? Your post is one ridiculous statement after another! Whilst predominantly Caucasian you find all ethnicities at UK climate protests (we are a predominantly white country after all!) and any one involved knows this is a global issue that effects EVERYBODY! You also find many parents and even grand parents there! And finally, WTF I myself come from a working class background....
