  • That is not nice to work with/in! I wonder why there in not a hole or slot running the full width of the ship on each hold to allow a vacuum in but stop most of the dust?

You have to hope that if it is necessary for people to be near this, they have full masks to wear. I no I have watch grain ships unloding and the people nearby had no masks, which has to be wrong?

  • Yes, cement can be a mess especially if there is high wind. But there are ways to combat this with new systems that sprinkle water vapor around the hold. These systems are used successfully in California USA. On the plus side, cement dust is pretty safe compared to most industrial pollutants.

  • Cleaning the hold must be a nightmare.

  • Bless your heart, having to be exposed to all that mess there. I live near a port, too, but it's containers-only....not nearly the problem you face there.

    Best of luck

  • Jeepers, what a mess. If this is how they keep their business out where everyone can see them, one must wonder what their houses look like behind closed doors. Probably an absolute pigpen. I couldn't live like that, but apparently some can. All in your upbringing, I guess.
