[This video was originally on my old account, HowlingOrionPro]

This video is dedicated to all my subscribers [to TheSavedWolf & HowlingOrionPro], and fellow wolf lovers. Why save wolves? Here are some interesting facts about the wolf. The wolf is the largest member of the canine family. Gray wolves range in color from grizzled gray or black to all-white. As the ancestor of the domestic dog, the gray wolf resembles German shepherds or malamutes. Wolves can range in color, from pure white in Arctic populations, to brown, gray, cinnamon and black. Wolves have one of the widest ranges of color, size, and shape of any North American mammal.

One of the most notable features of the wolf is their howl. Wolves have a complex communication system ranging from barks and whines to growls and howls. While they don't howl at the moon, they do howl more when it's lighter at night, which occurs more often when the moon is full. The wolf's howl is one of sorrow and heartbreak, but also of pure magic and beauty; truly one of a kind.

So why do the wolves need our help? Currently the world population of wolves is only 200,000. That may sound like a lot, BUT this is nothing compared to the 2 million wolves that used to roam free on this planet. People need to realize wolves need our help in order to survive.

What is the reason for the extreme decline? The most common cause of death for wolves is conflict with people over livestock losses. While wolf predation on livestock is fairly uncommon, wolves that do prey on them are often killed to protect the livestock. Defenders is working with livestock owners to develop non-lethal methods to reduce the chances of a wolf attacking livestock. These methods include fencing livestock, lighting, alarm systems and removing dead or dying livestock that may attract carnivores like wolves. Another serious threat is human encroachment into wolf territory, which leads to habitat loss for wolves and their prey species. Overall, the greatest threat to wolves is people's fear and misunderstanding about the species. Many fairy tales and myths tend to misrepresent wolves as villainous, dangerous creatures.
