Calling for action on the International Day to End Violence against Women, 25 November 2013, UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka stresses that "every woman and girl has the fundamental rights to live a life free of violence."

"Today and every day, let us take a stand," she says, underlining the responsibility of leaders to tackle the root cause of violence against women and girls: gender inequality.

Each year, 25 November marks the beginning of 16 Days of Activism to End Violence against Women around the world. Join UN Women and Say NO - UNiTE on 25 November and throughout the 16 Days Campaign and help end violence against women and girls: http://saynotoviolence.org/
