  • Is blocking recommended for everything? I'm making a checker board baby blanket I had no clue that it might need to be blocked...help?

  • @Camixxxxxxxxxx Blocking is a bit like ironing - not everything needs it, but it can improve the appearance when needed. You be the judge of your blanket - could it be smoother? is it a bit misshapen? Blocking will help if the answer is yes to these questions. Some patterns and yarns create a garment that needs no blocking. The choice is up to you. Let me know how the blanket turns out!

  • It is a square from my soon to be released skill building book, "Building Blocks". Stay tuned!

  • I always use cold water. I pin immediately after washing.

  • @hotdog1997 Yes, it will block. 100% wool blocks easily. The higher the acrylic content, the harder it is to block. Many other factors (twist, etc.) can also make a difference, but I have yet to see a knitted garment that doesn't benefit from blocking!

  • @hotdog1997 That will work just fine. I use the no rinse soap to eliminate a step and get back to knitting sooner!
