@ccastro02 Actually, Jolson wore 'blackface,' because African Americans were not allowed to perform on stage at the time. He wanted to get that music out there as much as possible, while giving credit to the people he got the music from. He was an advocate for anti-black discrimination. It was a different time, and you have to learn to respect that, and see that he was trying to do the right thing

Anyone saying that Al Jolson is racist may i quote wikipedia "As early as 1911 he became known for fighting against anti-black discrimination on Broadway. Jolson's well-known theatrics and his promotion of equality on Broadway helped pave the way for many black performers"

This is a disgusting portray of white supremacy and there efforts to make the black man appear to be nothing but a bafoon

@mikedonn71 Believe me, the majority of blacks hate that gangsta music as-well.

Really guys? Of course you people don't think this is racist. Blackface wasn't geared towards whites. Try watching this from the other side of the fence no matter how beautiful the lyrics may seem, you really cant blame black people to be offended by this. I mean, couldn't al jolson have done the same skit without blackface make-up and be just as successful? White's never think anything is racist.

LMAO, back then it wasn't ART. smh
It was purposely to offend blacks. but NOW opinions has changed.

such a great sequel. I wish people would read a friggin book though to discover how this isn't racist. However I cant believe such a postmodern moment was in a 40s film!
I can't believe black folks are so stupid that they attack something positive like this and say nothing bad about gangsta rap videos that make them look like subhumans.
