Mama's Gone Goodbye - Bobby Hackett, Jack Teagarden 1957.

Two top jazz musicians who musically were able play as if they were made for each other. Bobby the most lyrical cornet player and Jack the ultimate jazz improvisor made several albums together. This recording was done with some superb sideman as well. Peanuts Hucko clarinet, Ernie Caceres saxophone, Gene Schroeder piano, Billy Bauer guitar, Jack Lesberg bass and Buzzie Drootin drums.
Im glad I bought this vinyl LP in the early sixties. I have enjoyed it ever since and Im glad I can share it with you this way.

  • This LP is also is my collection (rather worn now!), and for me the greatest surprise was the very dynamic clarinet playing of Ernie Caceres. He surely is one of the most underrated on this instrument, and it is always interestng to listen to him together with the other clarinetist here, Peanuts Hucko, who in comparison sounds very thin and straightforward.
