In this video, No. 1 Green Goddess, a 1925 built Apple Green liveried 4-6-2 'Pacific' based on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, is seen at six locations on the 13.5 mile long Kent 'Mainline in Miniature'.

First, we see Green Goddess piloting diesel No. 14 Captain Howey out of Dungeness, forming the 12:00 service to Hythe. I apologise for this short clip. I had intended to film the whole train, but, my camera mysteriously stopped recording resulting in the short clip.

We then see No. 1 pounding along the Palmarsh Straight, near Hythe, working the 13:00 Dungeness to Hythe service.

After turning at Hythe, we then see Green Goddess pass Botolphs Bridge Level Crossing, between Hythe and Dymchurch, working the 14:30 Hythe - Dymchurch.

A stop at Dymcurch station ensured getting in front of Green Goddess and capturing her powering away from Dymchurch, at St Mary's Road Level Crossing, where the Apple Green 'Pacific' is next seen.

Other stops at St Mary's Bay, New Romney and Romney Sands gave ample time at getting in front of her again and is seen passing through Lade (Lydd-on-Sea).

We finally see No. Green Goddess departing Dungeness, working the 16:00 service to Hythe. Green Goddess would come off the train at New Romney, and be replaced by another loco.

  • Green Goddess looks just like Flying Scotsman. And RH&DR is like a miniature version of LNER. And it's cool how RH&DR actually made their own locomotive designs like how they made Captain Howey. That one actually looks like an American locomotive.

  • do you know why Green Goddess and Captain Howey were double heading in the first shot?

    Great vid :D

  • Got some good news for you. According to The Rommey Blog, a parallel run will take place from New Romney at 10:00, on the Sunday. On the Saturday, the 18:00 from Dungeness will have five locos on the front!

  • Thanks Cameron!

  • Amazing video of this Amazing loco!! :)
