I've seen 300TDs with and without turbo diesel engines, so the T stands for something other than Turbo. More of them were sold with turbo diesels than in regular diesel form. So naturally, one would believe that the T in TD would mean TurboDiesel. Nice car. I've always loved this style for Mercedes-Benz.

"TD" actually MEANS wagon!

In Europe all other models are called "230 CDI T-Modell" (for example).

"CDI" is the same as "D". Both is for Diesel.

@Seattlecarnut The 'T' stands for T-Model meaning their wagon models. As such a diesel engined sedan would be a 300D.
