I love this scene. It's self indulgent on the part of the director, of course. But obsession is self-indulgent. And you can tell how the depths of Nick's obsession with her.

I've just seen the movie, and to me it's not as bad as many people say. It's not a good movie, there are some pretty awful bits, the script needed more revision, the first half is somewhat confused and incoherent and actors are not at their best...and yet, there's definitely something worth watching. The main idea is more than intriguing, the ending not stupid at all, and after Helena's amputation there are some pretty good scenes (i.e. the gun-kiss scene), like this one, which is almost epic
