http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - It will be good to get an alternative processor platform to power all our laptops and desktops. But to run a full consumer friendly OS on an embedded processor platform has been a challenge so far, as the ARM processors were originally intended just to power phones and other dedicated devices. Designing a simple user interface for the Linux based OS that can be embraced by the mass market instead of Microsoft Windows is also a large challenge. Jerone Young is one of the main engineers at Canonical working for the past many months in trying to get Ubuntu to work 100% smoothly on the upcoming fastest ARM Processors that will come in the thin, light and possibly very cheap ARM Powered laptops and desktops that will normally reach the mass market in the months to come.

This video was filmed by Charbax of http://ARMdevices.net at the Freescale Technology Forum in Orlando Florida.

  • @downwithdinosaurs you what

  • @Warmijwilf Question - how long have you been addicted to crack?

  • @downwithdinosaurs Question, how long have you been on the internet?

  • @downwithdinosaurs

What would you say if I told you I was black?

  • @hamtotem So you agree with the sentiments left behind by these internet racists? These are not kind-hearted trolls.. the people that say things like this ARE RACISTS. People like you defend them and then don't flag their racist remarks as spam. Why not? Do you agree with their bigoted, narrow minded statements?

So yes, I do think it's acceptable, because they exhibited stupidity with their racism. If you think that's upsetting, I think you're the one who is hypersensitive.

  • @downwithdinosaurs

Yet you think it's acceptable to insult the intelligence of others. I mean ffs, how sensitive are you?

  • @Winnman05 Bigot.

  • @hamtotem it's really fucking disturbing that you and others find this to be an acceptable comment. Veiling your racism in positivity, does not make it okay. I really think it sucks that this is such a common problem - not only on YouTube .. but on the internet in general.

You probably don't even understand what these guys are talking about.

  • @womble1981 ARM was indeed originally designed for desktop computing, in fact for the family of early home computers directly succeeding the 8-bit microcomputer. Prior to the Archimedes, ARM was developed to actually bolt on to a BBC Microcomputer. The Archimedes desktop computer was succeeded by the RISC PC, which also ran RISC OS.

Although the Wintel platform killed the RISC PC, the ARM CPU is finally making a comeback on the desktop computer market. Not only Ubuntu, but Microsoft Windows 8.
