I"m 27..is it too late for me to learn ballet?
I hold no illusions (You won't see me in Swan Lake!) of my talent, but I DO want to learn.

meginmd: It's NEVER too late to begin ballet, especially if you have a great deal of interest in learning for recreational purposes. i say you should just go for it, and have fun :)

I'm 43 and started beginner ballet classes a couple of months ago. So you are never too old to try something you have always wanted to do.

Hey, i'm sorry if my english is not so good, i am from belgium.
I did ballet when I was ten and I stoped when I was 14. Now I started again 17 years later, I'm now 31. I started in september with an intermediat foundation, (RAD), I start next week on pointes. My teacher (same as 17 years ago) sais my technique is still very good en I have the perfect leggs to do ballet. So you see, you're never to old to start ballet as a hobby.

This is an amazing video. I wish this particular teacher produced more of these as she is very good at explaining this.
Does anybody know where is this video from?

i have had sugrey on my ankles in the past year...but do you think that ballet would be good for me to do because my ankles are kinda weak...i was thinking mabey ballet would make them stronger?..but i really REally want to do ballet!!

Ballet could be great for you, but...
You'll have to take things VERY slowly to give your ankles sufficient time to fully recover - so don't go mad! Gentle exercises would be things like the tendu (demonstrated here), the battement glisse, assembles soutenous and demi (but not full) plies. And you MUST tell your teacher about your recent surgery as you shouldn't yet be doing things like full plies or jumps until those ankles are strong enough. Good luck!
