A very simple introduction to principal component analysis. No requirement to know math concepts likeeigenvectors, convariance matrix. The explanation emphasizes the intuitive geometrical aspects instead of the statistical characteristics.

This is a good introduction. Just FYI, axises -> axes and extend -> extent. Also 'extent in average' would probably be average extent.
