I dropped my phone in the toilet just yesterday with a case on it mind and it wasn't even totally submerged but my phone was on the fritz for a second I kept getting this message about this accessory isn't supported or something. My phone kept turning on by itself I put it in some rice but not for long I opened up the phone blow dried it put it back together still had those spots on my screen from the water damage but they slowly went away now my phone works well...

when i dropped my iphone in water, the easy way is to just close the phone and dry it everywere with hairdryer :D then i just let it dry for a moment and it worked. And the ''greatest'' thing is that in the same week i dropped my phone and the glass broked. So the water got inside the phone easily..but still works :) and phone works correctly
(sorry about my bad english)

the guy at the store told me to leave it in there for 4 days...i did but now it's not turning on! did i leave it in for too long?
mine just fell into the bath (who doesn't like facebooking while taking a bath) and i had my wife take a blow dryer to it for like 30 min...then i turned it off for 5 or so hours...turned it back on...and it works great.

Science behind " the rice trick " :
Rice absorbs a lot of humidity, thus retrieving the water inside the phone
