This is basically the second half of my review of my newly purchased ATC3K. You can check the other one out on my page (click my user name).

In the first half I was focusing on lighting more, and the second was my big test for that vibration "warble" that I kept getting warned about in other video reviews. You'll see my results.

I left all the original sound in for your benefit, but you'll get the point pretty quickly and just mute your computer.

Basically, it's a camera designed for "fun" footage that you'll eventually use in other formats, such as this more "polished" video showing clips from the "vibration" portion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpk4NPZKfFk

Last thought: the quality is actually better than what YouTube puts out (even on the High Def setting). But since I'm guessing most of the stuff anybody will film with an ATC will be YouTube bound, this should give you a good sense of the end product.

It's not a serious/professional video camera, but it's serious and cheap fun!

  • Great review. I just got mine in the mail yesterday. How is the battery life and recording time with the 4gb SD card?

  • Battery life is completely dependent on temperature. If it is warm, they last many hours (I've gotten multiple 1-hr flights on a set). When it's cold - 5 minutes, maybe? The footage I took skiing shows how I basically got most of one run in before the bat's puked. I spent the rest of the day swapping with warm bat's from my jacket pocket, and still would only get about 3 minutes at a time. Quite the pain in the butt, that.

  • I'll take one.

  • great review! i just ordered one^^

  • i know what action cam i am going to get now

  • i found if you put a really soft peace of rubber between the bottom of the camera and wear it touches the surface you are mounting it to, it will cut down on some of the vibration

  • I have just ordered an ATC-3K on the strength of your very good review.

It showed me exactly what I wanted to know. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Thanks.

  • Great review and some great footage. Thanks for taking the time to do this!
