Last week my mom (Shauna Kenworthy) posted this e-mail;

After 20 years of not being around horses, I've been back taking riding lessons again for about the past 4 months and have been leasing a horse (yes you can lease horses now)......and enjoying every minute of it. I knew I wanted to eventually get one of my own, but it has always seemed like it's not the right time nor the right horse.

Last weekend, Jeff and Lisa called.....friends who's acreage I recently sold because they're moving down East and they aren't able to take their horses with them. Jeff told me they were looking for a home for Okie, their 17 year old quarter horse gelding who is well trained, smart and bomb proof. I told him that I would call my riding coach because if she didn't want to buy him for lessons, she would know someone who would want him.

He said "No, Shauna, we don't want him to be a lesson horse, we want him to be with someone who will spoil him and love him." Again, I told him I'd keep my ears open. Finally he had to get firm with me and say "SHAUNA.........we want YOU to have Okie!" (Duh, it takes me a while). Jeff said "We know Okie needs you just as much as you need him". I cried a river........ not being able to totally comprehend their generosity. He's been part of their family for 14 years and now he's part of ours. He is truly a gift of love. I'm not sure if Bret and Tom will ever forget the mean little pony we had for them when they were little (they decided ATV's were the way to go), but I'm sure Okie will change their minds.

He is truly a sweetheart and I'm grinning from ear to ear. Because he's more experienced than I am, he's teaching me lots and it's a good thing he's patient. :o) I'm keeping him down at G&R Stables, where I've been taking lessons, so he's 5 minutes away and there's a great group of people to go riding with.

There's an old saying "There's nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse". It's so true!

On Sunday August 31st I went out and video taped her riding Okie. I said I would put a video together and this is what I came up with. I know in the 3rd paragraph there is a mistake. I would have fixed it but I cannot find the original project.

Im so glad to see my mom soo happy.

Thanks Jeff & Lisa!!!!!!!!!
