Full review with pictures on the treadmill @ my blog:

http://yearincalifornia.blogspot.com/

Nokia hit a homerun in the design of the Nokia Booklet 3G. Sadly, that's about all they hit. But don't blame the Swedes...

AT&T is really at fault here.

Yes, the Nokia Booklet 3G only has 1 gig of RAM.
Yes, it's atom processor should have been faster.
Yes, it's SLOW.
Yes, it's impossible to type on the keyboard at night in the darkness of my camper van.

The real deal breaker? No WiFi access at AT&T hotspots!

I had a two hour conversation with AT&T Wireless, AT&T Laptop Support, and finally AT&T WiFi Support. According to the latter, there is a known problem with the Nokia Booklet 3G's sim card.

***This prevents any and all connections to an AT&T WiFi Hotspot***

Got a Nokia Booklet 3G? Want to surf the web at Starbucks, McDonalds, or Barnes & Noble? Sorry. Not gonna happen. That's pretty pathetic for a netbook...

I suppose this is why AT&T didn't even bother to preload it's Connection Manager software...that's right...the software that allows the Nokia Booklet 3G to connect to the internet? It first has to be downloaded...

I suppose that should have been my first clue. There is something drastically wrong when your first internet connection, on your new AT&T laptop, happens using your old Verizon Wireless modem.

But on the treadmill, the Nokia Booklet 3G is still pretty cool.
S-L-O-W. But cool...

  • yeah this netbook was a rip off. thank god apple invented the ipad.

  • the biggest problem with this nokia is wifi. the att 3G simcard has a conflict with att wifi hotspots. its impossible to connect to any attt wifi hotspots (starbucks, mcdonalds, barnes and noble). youre forced to use the 3G broadband connection which is never more than 3 bars and limited to 5 GB a month.

  • you have to sign up for separate service: laptop 3G broadband costs $60 a month for 5 GB.

  • I have one it's the biggest waste of money ever! The only thing I like about it is the build quality.

  • so you can't navigate on normal wi-fi ? and can you navigate on the internet with 3g broadband ?

what's the best choice if you need internet and you travel a lot?

can you please give me some examples of games that work on it? i'm not very good on computers. thank you and sorry for my childish questions :).. cheers

  • I am very thankful for this review. I was almost considering buying this laptop unlocked from the nokia website for school use, but for what you pay for after what you've showed me(which is a HUGE red flag) I'm better off just going to walmart and buying a cheaper laptop there that can work better & do more. Thanks for sharing this!

  • So, I read that you can supposedly pop in any SIM card, cause it's unlocked, I have a AT&T and inserted my SIM Card in, but it didn't automatically log me on to 3G. Do I have to pay more? or Have some sort of setting with AT&T for it to work? I have unlimited internet for my cell... Is there a difference for cell to AT&T Laptop. 2nd guessing the Nokia Notebook after you're review.
