Ah I get it so this is what happens if you don't drain the flow from waimea bay to the ocean or was this during/ after? Also How close was the city from the river bank because it looks harsh out there! Hopefully things turned up ok for you guys!

Poting you guys!! As a former valley girl I experience back to back flooding in 1949/50 and remember having to climb the mango tree to get out of the flood water because the water was up to our house window. After that flood the state built that river levy from the Swinging Bridge to the river mouth.
