'Nina' , or more fully 'Tre giorni son che Nina' is one of Pergolesi's most famous songs (at least if it was really by him, which is in doubt). It probably became popular through its inclusion in the well-known G. Schirmer edition of '24 Italian Songs & Arias of the 17th and 18th Centuries', and is often heard in arrangements for instruments, in particular the cello. This piano transcription, published in 1882, is by Rafael Joseffy (1852-1915) a Liszt pupil, who transforms it into a sort of nocturne.

  • I love this video,great music

  • @vamtire Thank you very much!

  • Beautiful song. There is a bit of annoying resonance on one note D flat I think - my music rest does something similar.

  • @pianodudeler Thank you for that - maybe the piano was slightly out of tune at the time, or sometimes the piano light vibrates if it is out of position.

  • very nice. :)

  • @juanbear1989 Thank you!

  • Thank you. This is not pure Pergolesi of

course, but Joseffy has captured the mood of the piece very well

  • This is quite beautiful, I've never heard Pergolesi on the piano before...it works surprisingly well.

  • Is there a way I can download this arrangement? I would love to use if for a ballet that I am choreographing. Thanks.

  • Thank you - and congratulations on your own effort at the music festival. The piece has great potential for expression, and is therefore an excellent choice for a competition.
