Karajan was no Nazi!!! I cant stand this stupid worldwide opinion,he was in the Nsdap but as he said himself he had to be a party member to survive and he never was acticv! But who was really activ was Karl Böhm,nobody talks about that! Karajan was probably the moast musical person on earth,and his style of conductig was totally elegant,He is the brightest star in musical history!

The Berlin Philharmonic under Karajan was the greatest orchestra in the world. I heard them live 4 times and I can still hear them today.

I would have loved to have seen one of his concerts. Don't matter which one, just any one! Out of ALL of the conductors I have heard conducting my favorite music, Karajan seems to do the best rendition on each piece. Tempo and all are thought out for it's maximum effect on ones senses. I wish he were in this day and age. Not a comparason, but the next favorite is John Williams. Star Wars music is fantastic. Just thought I'd add that. :)

@Gheorgyi Yes, that's what I meant. I said music isn't only about math. It's like a sequence of numbers built in a harmonic way. You must get the number right to cause the sensation music give to people. I love that some musicians do music by math, combining numbers and others just feel that combination. Both ways work for making music and I love that. Thanks for your reply.

@Ceneviva Quite likely, they have something built-in that allows them to float on another level. But music DOES have a lot to do with mathematic, they are both arcane worlds. Consider Bach, he's the demonstration that music and maths are twin sisters.

When was this performance given, is it possible to know? HvK was already old, he is visibly tired, ill and suffering in this video, yet he - GOES ON, Admirable, moving.
