B. S. Johnson (1933-1973) was a British experimental writer. His works include The Unfortunates, a novel of unbound chapters which can be read in any order (pictured in the video and sung about in the song), Albert Angelo, a book with holes cut in pages for the reader to be able to see forward (also mentioned in the lyrics), and other interesting experiments.
